is for the down pipes to not radiate heat into the engine compartment - keep the heat in the exhaust thus increasing its velocity which in turn (you know the benifits). I believe Z's are too hot underhood and the less radiated heat we have the better.Ceramics act as a very good thermal barrier should prove effective atleast for the downpipes. I might do the same for the turbo hot side and the exhaust manifolds Harry
